Model Insights

2015 a Big Year for Flood Products at RMS
RMS continues to strengthen its global flood product offering with the recent release of its Global Tsunami Scenario Catalog and South Korea Probabilistic Flood Maps and Flood Scenario Catalog. The Global Tsunami Scenario Catalog is the first of its kind in the insurance industry, and provides the most comprehensive global coverage of potential tsunami events on major subduction zones around the world. The South Korea Probabilistic Flood Maps and flood scenarios provide insight into potential flood depths at a range of return periods to support underwriting, accumulation management, and solvency testing. RMS has exciting plans to continue the expansion of our flood products in 2015 to enable the industry to accurately underwrite, price, and model flood risk. More information will follow next month.

Version 15.0 Europe Windstorm Models Update
As we approach the release of version 15.0, as part of the pre-release guidance, the following materials are now available on RMS Owl:

High-Resolution Economic Exposure Database for Japan Now Available
RMS has released the first high-resolution economic exposure database for Japan, providing building values by line of business with nationwide geographic coverage. The high-resolution database is derived from building-level geospatial data from the RMS high-definition building database and local and national census data.  Email asia-exposure@rms.com for more information.

Exposure Datasets for Malaysia Available Soon
The Malaysia Economic Exposure Database and Industrial Clusters Catalog will be available later this month on Owl. The database captures building replacement values by line of business and by administrative regions, and the catalog provides precise location, footprints, and additional data, such as industry types, for industrial clusters. Email asia-exposure@rms.com for more information.
